About my blog

Tidbits of ham... why this title? Well, because this will be a blog about pieces of my ideas, other people's ideas, thoughts, events, or tidbits of just about anything under the sun. And why ham? Because ham is meat (beef, pork or poultry) and meat means substance. Tidbits of Ham... small pieces of anything that matters... at least to me.

Blogging Assignment

I have thought about putting up a blog for quite a time. But the other day our teacher in one of our marketing subjects (E-Marke) Mr. Adolf Aran, gave us an assignment to create a blog and write the definition of a blog and blogging-just the push I need to create this blog.

Now for the definition: A blog (or "weblog") is a type of website usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Terminologies:
Blogging - authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog.
Blog posts - Individual articles on a blog other terms “posts” or “entries”
Blogger - A person who posts these entries.
Blogosphere - All blogs, or the blogging community. Also called blogistan or, more rarely, blogspace.
Blogstorm - When a large amount of activity, information and opinion erupts around a particular subject or controversy in the blogosphere, it is sometimes called a blogstorm or blog swarm.

Parts of a Blog:
Title – main title or headline of the post
Body – main content of the post
Comments – comments added by readers
Permalink – the URL of the full, individual article
Post Date – date and time the post was published
Categories (or tags) – subjects that the entry discusses
Trackbacks – links to other sites that refer to the entry

A blogsite typically contains a list of links, or blogroll, of other blogs that the author reads or affiliates with.
